Sperber, Paula (Mrs. Carter)
Bowling
b. March 1, 1951, Miami, FL
Sperber started bowling when she was eleven and at fifteen she rolled a 290 in the Algiers Junior Classic. A left-hander, the 5-foot-6, blue-eyed blonde drew much notice because of her cover girl looks when she became a professional in 1969.
She was named bowler of the year in 1971, when she won the U. S. Women's Open. Sperber won the championship for a second time in 1975 and was named to the Bowler's Journal All-American team three times.
Sperber is married to Don Carter, one of the greatest male bowlers in history.
