History
The Bowling Proprietors Association of America inaugurated the Women's All-Star Tournament in 1949. It became the U. S. Open, an event on the women's professional tour, in 1971.
There were two tournaments in 1955, one in January and the other in December.
The BPAA dropped the tournament after 2003 because the Professional Women's Bowling Association Tour ceased operations. In 2007, the U. S. Bowling Congress acquired rights to the name from the BPAA and revived the tournament as the USBC Women's Open.
