After a successful stint as a singles skater, winning five consecutive U. S. championships from 1920 through 1924, Badger retired for a time and then returned as a pairs skater, teaming with Beatrix Loughran to win national titles from 1930 through 1932. They won the silver medal at the 1932 Winter Olympics.
A banking writer for the Wall Street Journal and Barron's, Badger was president of the U. S. Figure Skating for several years during the 1930s.
