Barrett, Charles
Football
b. Nov 3, 1893, Bellevue, PA
d. May 21, 1924
An All-American quarterback at Cornell in 1915, when he captained an unbeaten team, Barrett was a triple threat as a runner, passer, and kicker. As late as 1954, he was on Grantland Rice's all-time All-American team. Rice wrote of him, "He was a brilliant, hard-running back who put everything he had into every play."
Barrett died at thirty-one as an aftermath of wounds received during World War I. Former University of Pennsylvania players who had competed against him erected a table in his memory at Franklin Field.
