b. Feb. 7, 1934, Hartford, CT

Other Resources

Beagle played high school football in Cincinnati and entered the U. S. Naval Academy in 1952. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound end was an All-American in 1954 and 1955 and he won the 1954 Maxwell Trophy as the nation's outstanding college football player, becoming one of the few linemen and only a handful of underclassmen to be given the award.

A broken hand hampered him somewhat in his senior season, but he finished his college career with 64 pass receptions for 840 yards and 8 touchdowns.

After four years in the Navy, where he suffered a knee injury playing football, Beagle tried out with the Oakland Raiders of the American Football League in 1960 but failed to make the squad.
