Career Statistics
Though born in Canada, Bennett grew up in Rhode Island, where his family moved when he was an infant. He starred as a defenseman at Brown University and signed with the NHL's St. Louis Blues after graduating in 1970.
As a professional, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Bennett played center. St. Louis traded him to the New York Rangers before the 1972/73 season and he went to the Atlanta Flames shortly afterward. Bennett had his best scoring season with Atlanta in 1975/76, with 65 points on 34 goals and 31 assists.
Bennett was traded back to St. Louis in 1977 and spent a final season, 1979/80, with Atlanta before retiring. In 580 regular season games, he scored 152 goals and had 182 assists for 334 points. He added 2 points on 1 goal and 1 assist in 21 playoff games.
