Bradds originally enrolled at the University of Kentucky but spent only two days there before returning to his home state to attend Ohio State University. After serving as backup center to Jerry Lucas in 1961-62, the 6-foot-8, 210-pound Bradds became a starter as a junior, averaging 28.0 points per game.
He was named a consensus All-American and player of the year after averaging 30.6 points a game in 1963-64. Bradds joined the NBA's Baltimore Bullets but missed much of his rookie year and virtually all of his second year with injuries.
After sitting out the entire 1966-67 season, Bradds joined the Oakland team in the new American Basketball Association in 1967. He was with the ABA's Washington team in 1969-70 and ended his professional career with the Carolina and Dallas teams in 1970-71.
