b. March 24, 1951, Westford, MA
The only golfer to win all four major women's tournaments, Bradley was a competitive skier and ski instructor before attending Florida International University, where she was an All-American golfer in 1970.
She joined the LPGA tour in 1974 and scored her first victory in the 1976 Girl Talk Classic. Bradley won her first major tournament, the Peter Jackson Classic, in 1980; the following year she won the U. S. Women's Open. Her third major victory was in the 1985 du Maurier Classic (formerly the Peter Jackson).
Bradley had an incredible 1986 season, winning three major championships, the Nabisco Dinah Shore, the LPGA Championship, and the Du Maurier, to give her a total of six. She set a single season record by winning $492,021, was named Player of the Year, and won the Vare Trophy for the lowest average strokes per round. She also became the first woman golfer to surpass $2 million in career earnings.
Treatment for hyperthyroidism limited her playing time in 1988, but she did host the inaugural Planters Pat Bradley International in High Point, NC, that year. She came back the following season, surpassed the $3 million career winning mark in 1990, and went over $4 million in 1991, when she also won her thirtieth tournament.
A great long iron player, Bradley holds the LPGA record for the lowest 54-hole score, 197, and shares the record for the lowest 9-hole score, 28.
