Football

b. 1933

Other Resources

The Outland Trophy winner as the nation's outstanding collegiate lineman in 1954, Brooks played offensive guard and defensive tackle at the University of Arkansas. His coach, Bowden Wyatt, said of him, "Bud played offensive right guard so that he could lead all the ballcarriers as an interferer, and played defensive left tackle better than most we have ever had. He had as much speed as linemen ever have and an amazing ability to go to the ball."

Although Arkansas lost 14-6 to Georgia Tech in the Cotton Bowl, Brooks was voted the game's outstanding lineman, and he was also the outstanding lineman in the Senior Bowl all-star game. He never played professional football.
