Other Resources

Though he weighed only 155 pounds, Casey was as solid on defense as he was dangerous on offense, often using a cross-body block to bring down opposing runners. He started at halfback for Harvard in 1916 and then served in the Navy for two years during World War I.

He returned to become an All-American as a senior in 1919, when he had a 40-yard touchdown run to tie Princeton 10-10 and a 22-yard touchdown run to beat Yale 10-3. Harvard was unbeaten that season, winning 9 games while tying 1, and went on to beat Oregon 7-6 in the Rose Bowl.

Casey played for the NFL's Buffalo All-Americans in 1920. He coached Tufts to a 15-16-2 record from 1922 through 1925 and returned to Harvard as head coach from 1931 through 1934, winning 20 games, losing 11, and tying 1.

In 1935, Casey coached the Boston Redskins of the NFL to a 2-8-1 record.
