Corbus, William
Football
b. Oct. 5, 1911, San Francisco, CA
The 6-foot, 185-pound Corbus was nicknamed the "Baby-Faced Assassin" because his boyish appearance belied his devastating blocking and tackling as a three-year starter at Stanford. Although a guard, he was also a fine place-kicker.
An All-American in both 1932 and 1933, Corbus captained the 1933 team. There were nine sophomore starters on that team, known as the "Vow Boys," because they had vowed never to lose to Southern California. They never did, in part because Corbus kicked two field goals in the second half to beat Southern Cal 13-7 that year.
