The only American equestrian to win an individual medal at the 1974 world championships, Davidson took a gold in the three-day event on Irish Cap and was also a member of the gold medal three-day team. He won a team gold in the 1976 worlds and an individual gold in 1978, riding Might Tango.
At the 1975 Pan-American Games, Davidson won a silver medal in the three-day event and was a member of the silver medal team.
