Drury, Morley E.
Football
b. Feb. 15, 1903, Midland, ON
d. Jan. 22, 1989
"The noblest Trojan of them all," according to West Coast sportswriters, Drury was the first player from the University of Southern California to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season and the first named to the College Football Hall of Fame.
Drury started at quarterback for three seasons and captained the USC team as a senior in 1927, when he was an All-American. During his career, the school won 27 games, lost 5, and tied 1. A strong runner and accurate passer, Drury was also an exceptionally smart signal-caller who could carry out Coach Howard Jones's game plans to perfection.
In 1969, Drury was named to the all-time Pacific Coast team.
