b. Dec. 16, 1965, Lagos, Nigeria
The 6-foot-4, 282-pound Elewonibi grew up in Canada and went to Snow College in Utah before transferring to Brigham Young University. A guard in college, he won the 1989 Outland Trophy as the nation's outstanding lineman and was chosen by the Washington Redskins in the third round of the NFL's college draft.
The Redskins moved him to offensive tackle, but he missed all of the 1990 season and most of the 1991 season with injuries before becoming a starter in 1992.
However, injury problems plagued him and he sat out the 1994 season. In 1995, he briefly returned to football with the Philadelphia Eagles, but retired permanently after that season.
Surprisingly agile and mobile for a player his size, Elewonibi starred in soccer as a high school student and was chosen by British Columbia in the 1985 North American Soccer League draft of amateurs.
