Farrell, "Jeff" (Felix Jeffrey)
Swimming
b. Feb. 28, 1937, Detroit, MI
An emergency appendectomy kept Farrell from competing in the 1960 Olympic trials, so he didn't have a chance to win any individual gold medals, but he was a member of the 4 by 200-meter freestyle and 4 x 100-meter individual medley relay teams that won golds.
Farrell won national long-course titles in the 100-meter and 200-meter freestyles in both 1959 and 1960 and was short-course champion in the 100-yard and 220-yard freestyles in 1960. He won a gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle at the 1959 Pan-American Games.
