Farrington, "Bob" (Robert G.)
Harness racing
b. July 15, 1929, Richwood, OH
A brick mason, Farrington began training a harness horse after work and driving on small Ohio tracks in 1955. By 1961, training and driving had become a full-time job. Farrington became the first driver to win more than 200 heats in 1961, leading the nation in heats won that year and again in 1962.
In 1963, he performed the rare feat of winning all six races he started at Freehold, OH. Farrington didn't lead in wins that year but in 1964 he became the first to win more than 300 heats, again leading all drivers. He was also the leader in heats won in 1965, 1966, and 1967.
