Although he wasn't familiar with the international version of trap shooting, called clay pigeon shooting, Graham won an individual gold medal at the 1912 Olympics and also led the U. S. to the team championship. Graham, who once broke 432 consecutive targets, became a professional soon after his Olympic victory.
