In the 80-meter hurdles at the 1932 Olympics, Hall led Babe Didrikson going over the final hurdle, but just barely lost on the run to the tape. They were both timed in a world record 11.7 seconds.
Hall was the AAU outdoor 80-meter hurdles champion in 1930 and she won the indoor 50-yard/50-meter hurdles in 1931, 1933, and 1935. She ran on the Illinois Women's Athletic Club relay team that won national championships in 1931-33, setting a world record of 49.4 seconds in 1932.
She retired from competition after failing to make the 1936 Olympic team and went into coaching. Hall coached the U. S. women's track team at the first Pan-American Games in 1951 and for many years served as chairman of the U. S. Olympic women's track and field committee.
