Hannah, John A.
Football
b. April 4, 1951, Canton, GA
A consensus All-American at offensive guard for Alabama in 1972, the 6-foot-3, 265-pound Hannah also lettered in wrestling and track, where he was a shot-putter and discuss thrower.
The first draft choice of the NFL's New England Patriots, Hannah immediately became a starter in 1973 and remained with the team until he retired after the 1985 season because of surgery on both shoulders and his left knee.
Hannah was named an all-American Football Conference guard in 1974, 1976, 1978, and 1979 and was chosen on the All-NFL team in 1980, 1981, 1984, and 1985. He was also selected for the quarter-century AFL-NFL team for the 1960-1984 period.
