As a senior, Hickok captained the Yale football and track teams. He was an All-American guard in 1894 and 1895. During those two seasons, Yale won 29 games and tied 2 without a loss. He was also a starter in the 1893 team that won 10 and lost 1.
Hickok won the IC4A shot put and hammer throw championships three years in a row, 1893 through 1895, and was the AAU national shot put champion in 1895. He coached Carlisle School for Indians to a 4-5-0 record in 1896.
