Hodgins, Clinton T.
Harness Racing
b. June 18, 1907, Clandeboye, ONT
d. Oct. 22, 1979
A trainer and driver, Hodgins won more than 1,500 heats after the U. S. Trotting Association began keeping official records in 1939, and he had many more in a dozen years of driving before that.
In 1949, Hodgins led the nation in dashes won with 128 and in money won with $184,108. Fourteen years later, he drove horses that won $205,031, but that was good only for twenty-fifth in the year's rankings.
Among the outstanding harness horses he handled were Proximity, Horse of the Year in 1950, and Bye Bye Byrd, Horse of the year in 1959. He also drove Adios Butler to a world record 1:55 4/5 in 1959.
