b. 1880, Westchester County, NY
d. Aug. 14, 1963
At sixteen, Hoyt won the U. S. Women's Amateur championship in 1896, the first year she entered. She was the youngest champion until Laura Baugh won in 1971.
Hoyt also won the title in 1897 and 1898; she's one of only four golfers to win three amateur championships in a row. She was low scorer in the tournament's qualifying round five years in a row, 1896-1900.
Hoyt retired from serious competition after losing in the semi-finals of the 1900 tournament.
