As a freshman at Villanova University, Huber won the NCAA 3,000-meter run, both indoors and outdoors, in 1987. She repeated in both events in 1988, when she also won the NCAA outdoor 1-mile and the national outdoor 1,500-meter championships.
The 5-foot-6, 111-pounder finished second in the 3,000-meter run at the 1988 Olympic trials and placed sixth at the Olympics. She won the 1989 Honda Broderick Cup as the nation's outstanding female college athlete for winning the NCAA cross-country title in addition to both 3,000-meter events.
Huber was hampered by injuries as a senior in 1990. Her best finish that year was a third in the national indoor 3,000-meter. She retired in 1991 because of recurring physical problems.
