Janney, Craig H.
Hockey
b. Sept. 26, 1967, Hartford, CT
A 6-foot-1, 190-pound center, Janney was an NCAA East All-American at Boston College in 1986-87, when he led the conference with 55 assists and 83 points. He had 70 points in 52 games with the U. S. national team and 4 points in 5 games with the Olympic team in 1987-88, then joined the NHL's Boston Bruins near the end of the season.
An excellent puck-handler and passer, Janney was very effective on the power play. He liked to operate behind the net, keeping the puck away from defensemen until he could make a quick, accurate pass to a teammate in good scoring position.
The Bruins traded Janney to the St. Louis Blues in February 1992. Janney also played for the San Jose Sharks, Winnipeg Jets, Phoenix Coyotes, Tampa Bay Lightning, and New York Islanders. He retired after the 1998-1999 season.
