Jochim won a record thirty-four national gymnastics championships and is the only male gymnast ever to win at least one national title on every type of apparatus. He also won a silver medal in the vault at the 1932 Olympics and was a member of the U. S. team that won a silver in combined exercise.
He was the national all-around champion seven times, in 1925-30 and in 1933. Jochim won titles on the parallel bars in 1926, 1928-29, 1931, and 1933-34; in the vault 1930-34; on the horizontal bar 1926 and 1928-30; in free exercise in 1923 and 1928-34; on the side horse in 1926-28 and 1933; and on the flying rings in 1929.
