Justice, David C.
Baseball
b. April 14, 1966, Cincinnati, OH
Justice was with the NL's Atlanta Braves briefly in 1989 and joined the team to stay early in the 1990 season, when he was named rookie of the year after hitting .282 with 28 home runs and 78 RBI in 127 games.
He missed a month of the 1991 season with an injury and had 21 home runs in 109 games. After batting .256 in 1992, Justice had his finest season in 1993, when he hit .270 with 40 home runs and 120 RBI.
A left-hander, Justice played first base for much of the 1990 season but was moved to right field the following year and he spent the rest of his career as an outfielder and designated hitter.
In 1997, Justice went to the Cleveland Indians as a free agent. The Indians traded him to the New York Yankees midway through the 2000 season, and his 20 home runs helped the Yankees win the American League pennant. He had 41 homers for the season, a personal best.
Justice became a free agent and played for the Oakland As in 2002, then announced his retirement.
