Kelley, "Larry" (Lawrence M.)
Football
b. May 30, 1915, Conneaut, OH
One of only two lineman ever to win the Heisman Trophy (the other was Leon Hart), Kelley was an All-American end at Yale in his senior year, 1936, when he captained the team and scored 91 points.
Kelley had the rare distinction of scoring at least one touchdown against Harvard and Princeton in each of his three years as a starter. He had a 54-yard touchdown reception in Yale's 14-13 win over Harvard in 1936 and a 46-yard touchdown catch that year in a 26-23 win over Princeton.
In 1937, Kelley played for the Boston Shamrocks of the American Football League.
