Kilpatrick, John Reed
Football
b. June 15, 1889, New York, NY
d. May 7, 1960
An All-American end at Yale in 1909 and 1910, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound Kilpatrick was best known for his play on a strong defensive team that didn't allow a single point in 1909. He captained the team in 1910, when he caught a touchdown pass to beat Princeton 5-3; it was the only time Princeton was scored on that season.
A sprinter and hurdler, Kilpatrick was also captain of the school's track team as a senior. He later continued his involvement with sports as president of Madison Square Garden from 1933 until his death.
