Kremer's career as a major league pitcher barely lasted ten seasons, but he was the NL leader eight times in five different categories during that time. A right-hander, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Kremer joined the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1924, when he had an 18-10 record and led the league with 41 games and 4 shutouts.
The Pirates won the 1925 pennant and Kremer had a 2-1 record with a 3.00 ERA in their seven-game World Series victory over the Washington Senators. He led the league with 20 victories, a .769 winning percentage, and a 2.61 ERA in 1927, and he was the ERA leader again with a 2.47 mark in 1928.
In 1930, Kremer had a league-leading 20 victories and 276 innings pitched. Arm trouble set in the following season, when he was only 11-15 in 30 appearances. He appeared in just 11 games in 1932 and 7 in 1933 before retiring.
Kremer had a career 143-85 record with 14 shutouts and a 3.76 ERA. He struck out 516 hitters and walked 483 in 1,954 2/3 innings.
