Laperriere, Jacques (Joseph Jacques Hugues)

After playing for the Junior Canadiens for four seasons, Laperriere became a professional and spent one season in the minor leagues, joining Montreal for 6 games in 1962-63. He won the 1964 Calder Trophy as the NHL's rookie of the year and the 1966 Norris Trophy as the best defenseman in the league.
Laperriere was often injured and he frequently played despite pain. During the 1972 Stanley Cup playoffs, he didn't miss a game despite a cracked bone in his left arm. However, he was forced by a retire after suffering a knee injury in a game against the Boston Bruins on Jan. 19, 1974.
The Canadiens won six Stanley Cup championships during his twelve seasons in Montreal. He scored 40 goals and had 242 assists in 691 regular season games and added 9 goals and 22 assists in 88 playoff games.
