Janice Lawrence

Lawrence won the Wade Trophy as the nation's outstanding women's college basketball player for the 1983-84 season, when she averaged 20.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, also leading her Louisiana Tech team in steals.

During her career, Lawrence scored 2,403 points in 135 games, a 17.8 average, hitting 934 of 1,577 field goal attempts for a 59.2 percentage. She also had 1,097 rebounds, an average of 8.1 per game.

An All-American in 1983 and 1984, Lawrence was named outstanding player of the NCAA championship tournament in 1982, when she was a sophomore. She led all scorers with an average of 22.8 points per game and Louisiana Tech won the national title.

After starting for the U. S. Olympic team that won a gold medal in 1984, Lawrence played for the New York franchise in the short-lived Women's American Basketball Association.

She is currently an assistant coach with the Cleveland Rockers of the Women's National Basketball Association.
