b. March 18, 1962, Pleasonton, CA
Millard was named the 1989 National Football Conference defensive player of the year by United Press International after he had a league-leading 18 sacks. He also intercepted a pass and returned it 48 yards.
A 6-foot-5, 263-pound defensive tackle, Millard played at Washington State University and spent his first professional season with the Arizona Wranglers of the U. S. Football League in the spring of 1985. He then signed with the NFL's Minnesota Vikings and had 21 1/2 sacks in his first two seasons there.
Hampered by injuries in 1987 and early in 1988, Millard came back to play the entire 1989 season for the Vikings. However, he suffered a serious knee injury in the fourth game of the 1990 season and missed all of 1991. The Vikings then traded him to the Seattle Seahawks, who released him after two games in 1992. He played two more games that season with the Green Bay Packers and then announced his retirement.
In 93 NFL games, Millard had 58 quarterback sacks. He also intercepted 2 passes, returning them for 65 yards, and scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery.
