b. July 5, 1913, Woodland, CA

Miller was successful in every aspect of harness racing during his long career. He began driving horses on fairgrounds tracks in 1930, moved to the Grand Circuit in 1947, and was the nation's top money-winner with $306,813 in 1950 and $567,282 in 1960.
In 1948, Miller established Meadowlands Farm in Pennsylvania and bought Adios as his breeding stallion. Adios became the leading sire in the history of the sport. His progeny won nearly $20 million during the next twenty years. Miller sold a two-thirds interest in Adios to Hanover Shoe Farms in 1955, but the stallion continued to stand at Meadow Lands.
Miller trained and drove two harness horse of the year winners, Stenographer in 1954 and Delmonica Hanover in 1974. Stenographer won 23 of 32 starts, earning $123,741.32 over a two-year period. Another Miller-trained horse, Arndon, set a world record for trotters in 1982 by running a 1:54 time trial.
The president of the Grand Circuit in 1967 and 1968, Miller founded the Meadows harness track near his breeding farm in 1963, when parimutuel betting was legalized in Pennsylvania.
Miller recorded 2,434 victories, with $10,920,921 in winnings, after the U. S. Trotting Association began keeping records in 1939.
