Myers won four medals in diving at three different Olympics. Shortly after graduating from high school, she won a silver in the 1952 platform event. As a student at the University of Southern California, she won a bronze medal in platform diving at the 1956 Olympics. And she won silver medals in both the springboard and the platform in 1960, when she was Paula Jean Myers-Pope and the mother of two children.
Myers also won 11 AAU national championships, in the outdoor 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events in 1957 and 1958; in the outdoor platform in 1953 and from 1957 through 1957; in the indoor 3-meter springboard in 1953; and in both indoor springboard events in 1957.
She also won gold medals in both springboard and platform diving at the 1959 Pan-American Games.
