Pennock, Stanley B.
Football
b. June 15, 1892, Syracuse, NY
d. Nov. 27, 1916
An All-American guard three years in a row, 1912 through 1914, the 5-8, 195-pound Pennock was an anchor on Harvard teams that won 25 games and tied 2 without a loss. Harvard outscored its opposition 588 to 61 during that period.
The powerful Pennock was described by the Harvard Crimson as "the rock-ribbed Stan Pennock," and sportswriter George Trevor in 1914 called him "a throwback to Neanderthal Man."
After graduating, Pennock went into the chemical business. He was killed in 1916 in the explosion of a plant in Newark, NJ.
