Called "Horse" by his teammates at Stanford, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Reynolds was an All-American tackle in 1934. A devastating blocker, he was also a defensive stalwart because of his surprising speed. Halfback Bobby Grayson said of Reynolds, "When he was paving the way, he banged the defenders down as though they were wooden Indians. . . . On defense, he was almost unstoppable."
During his three seasons as a starter, 1933 through 1935, Stanford gave up only 99 points in 31 games, winning 23, losing 5, and tying 3.
Reynolds played in the NFL with the Detroit Lions in 1937 and 1938. He later became the president of the American League's Los Angeles Angels and vice-president of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams.
