Roth, Mark S.
Bowling
b. April 10, 1951, Brooklyn, NY
A four-time bowler of the year, from 1977 through 1979 and in 1984, Roth joined the PBA tour in 1970 but didn't win a tournament until 1975. From that point on, he was one of the PBA's most consistent bowlers.
Roth led the PBA in average from 1976 through 1979, in 1981, and in 1988, and was the tour's leading money winner from 1977 through 1979 and in 1984, when he won the PBA Open. He tied a record by winning three straight tournaments in 1977 and set a record by winning eight in 1978. Although he failed to win a tournament in 1986, Roth still had enough high finishes to win $86,000.
His 34 tournament victories is third all-time and he ranks 10th in career winnings with $1,611,886.
