Stacy won the 1969 USGA Junior Girls Championship, the youngest winner ever at 15 years and 4 months. She also won the event in 1970 and 1971 and is one of only two golfers to win the title three years in a row.
She left Rollins College after her sophomore year to join the LPGA tour in July of 1974. Her first professional victory came in the 1977 Rail Charity Golf Classic. Stacy also won the U. S. Women's Open that year and she repeated in 1978. With her 1984 Women's Open victory, Stacy became one of only four golfers to have won the event more than twice. She also won the 1983 Peter Jackson Classic, giving her four major titles.
From 1977 through 1985, Stacy won at least one tournament a year and in 1985 she became the LPGA's tenth millionaire. Her 18th and final win on the LPGA tour came in 1991. She then began cutting back on her tournament play in 1988 to devote more time to golf course design. She also served as an associate golf coach at the University of Southern California.
During her LPGA career, she won $2,580,041. In 2001, she joined the Women's Senior Tour, now known as the Legends Tour. She's won one tournament on that tour, the 2001 Great Lakes Classic.
