In one of the slowest sprints in history, 84-year-old Connie Mack, owner of the Philadelphia Athletics, and 78-year-old Clark Griffith, owner of the Washington Senators, raced from home plate to first base in a pre-game exhibition. It was a tie.

1988 - Bell Hits 3 Homers on Opening Day
George Bell became the only player to hit three home runs in an opening day game, leading the Toronto Blue Jays a 5-3 win over the Kansas City Royals.

1993 - Swoopes Scores NCAA Record 47 Points
Sheryl Swoopes of Texas Tech scored 47 points to lead her team to an 84-82 win over Ohio State in the NCAA women's basketball final. That set a championship game record for either sex.
