1918 - Centerfielder Speaker Wipes Out Two with One Catch

The Cleveland Indians' Tris Speaker turned in a rare unassisted double play - rare for a centerfielder, that is. Speaker raced in to make an outstanding catch, then trotted to second base to double off a very surprised runner.

Yankee Stadium, christened "the House that Ruth Built," hosted its first game. Appropriately, Ruth hit a three-run homer to win it.

With two outs in the ninth inning, Mike Schmidt hit the 500th home run of his career to rally the Phillies past the Pirates, 8-6.

1995 - Stockton Becomes NBA All-Time Assist Man

John Stockton's bounce pass to set up a basket by Utah Jazz teammate Karl Malone made Stockton the NBA's all-time career leader in assists, with 9,922.
