1906 - No-Hitter Turns Into Loss

1906 Brooklyn pitcher Harry McIntyre had a no-hitter with two outs in the 11th inning when he gave up a single to Claude Ritchey of the Pittsburgh Pirates. McIntyre ended up losing the game, 1-0, in 13 innings.

1945 - Ott Hits 500th Home Run

New York Giants outfielder Mel Ott hit the 500th home run of his career against the Boston Braves at the Polo Grounds. He was the third player in history to reach that mark, after Babe Ruth and Jimmie Foxx.

1941 - Gomez Walks 11 in Shutout

Despite giving up 11 walks, Lefty Gomez of the New York Yankees pitched a complete-game, 9-0 victory over the St. Louis Browns. The 11 walks is a record for a shutout.
