1912 - Black Sox Verdict: Not Guilty

After less than three hours of deliberation, a Chicago jury brought in a verdict of not guilty in the Black Sox scandal case. Eight White Sox players and five gamblers were accused of fixing the 1919 World Series. Despite their acquittal, the players were banned from organized baseball for life.

1959 - Two Bases-Loaded Triples for Bruton

Centerfielder Bill Bruton of the Milwaukee Braves hit two bases-loaded triples, leading his team to an 11-5 win over St. Louis in the second game of a doubleheader.

1986 - Joyner-Kersee Sets Heptathlon Record

At the first Goodwill Games, in Moscow, Jackie Joyner-Kersee set a world record of 7,161 points in the heptathlon. She was the first woman to surpass 7,000 points in the event. A month later, she extended the record to 7,291 points, which still stands.

1987 - Seitzer Gets 7 Hits

Kevin Seitzer of the Kansas City Royals collected six hits, three singles, a double, and two home runs, against the Boston Red Sox.

1991 - FLASH: AL Pitcher Gets RBI

Texas Ranger Mike Jeffcoat doubled home a run against Milwaukee to become the first American League pitcher to get an RBI since the designated hitter rule was adopted in 1972.
