1940 - Bears Beat 'Skins, 73-0
The visiting Chicago Bears devastated the Washington Redskins, 73-0, to win the NFL championship. After going ahead, 33-0, the Bears scored three third-quarter touchdowns on interception returns. The officials finally asked the Bears to stop kicking extra points because they were down to one football and didn't want to see it sail into the stands.

1987 - Goalie Shoots - He Scores!
Philadelphia's Ron Hextall became the first NHL goalie to score a goal on a shot when he sent the puck the length of the ice into the empty Boston Bruin net. Billy Smith of the New York Islanders scored a goal in 1979, but only because he was the last member of his team to touch the puck before an opposing defenseman accidentally threw it into his own net.

1992 - Wilkins Hits 23 Free Throws
Dominique Wilkins of the Atlanta Hawks set an NBA record by making 23 free throws without a miss against the Chicago Bulls.
