Historic Events

1975 - Blanda Passes 2,000-Point Mark

George Blanda kicked four extra points in the final regular-season game of his career, as the Oakland Raiders beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 28-20. That gave him 2,002 career points, still the record. Blanda announced his retirement the following August, shortly before his 49th birthday.

1997 - Sanders Is 4th 2,000-Yard Rusher

Detroit Lion running back Barry Sanders rushed for 184 yards in a 13-10 win over the New York Giants, giving him 2,053 for the season. He's one of only four runners to go over 2,000 yards.
