1971 - Lakers Set Win-Streak Record

The Los Angeles Lakers set a record for any professional sport by beating the Baltimore Bullets, 127-120, for their 27th straight victory. That broke a tie with baseball's New York Giants, who had won 26 in a row in 1916. The Lakers' streak eventually went to 33 games.

1974 - Esposito Scores 500th Goal

Boston Bruin center Phil Esposito became the sixth NHL player to score 500 career goals in Boston's 5-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.

1985 - Craig Gains 1,000 Rushing and Catching

San Francisco 49er running back Roger Craig finished the season as the first NFL player to gain more than 1,000 yards both rushing and receiving.

1990 - Coffey Reaches 1,000-Point Mark

Pittsburgh's defenseman Paul Coffey got an assist in a 4-3 victory over the Islanders, giving him 1,000 points for his NHL career. Coffey went on to set a record for defensemen, later broken by Ray Bourque, of 1,531 points.
