1908 - First Black Heavyweight Champ Crowned
Jack Johnson became the first black heavyweight champion by beating Tommy Burns in 14 rounds at Rushcutter's Bay, Australia. Johnson thoroughly dominated the fight, which ended when police entered the ring. The referee then declared Johnson the winner and new champion.

1943 - Luckman Stars in NFL Title Game
Sid Luckman led the Chicago Bears to their third NFL championship in four years, throwing five touchdown passes and intercepting two of Sammy Baugh's throws in a 41-21 win over the Washington Redskins at Wrigley Field. Luckman completed 15 of 27 passes for 276 yards.
