1932 - Eagan Becomes Only Winter-Summer Gold Medalist
Edward P. F. Eagan rode with the U. S. four-man bobsled team that won a gold medal at the Lake Placid Olympics. Eagan, who had won the heavyweight boxing championship at the 1920 Olympics, is still the only person to win gold in both the winter and the summer games.

1953 - Albright Wins World Figure Title
Tenley Albright became the first American woman to win the world figure skating championship. She also won the U. S. and North American titles that year, the first time anyone had swept the three events.

1974 - Esposito Notches 1,000th NHL Point
Phil Esposito of the Boston Bruins assisted on a goal to record his 1,000th NHL point. The Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks, 4-2.
