1935 - The Babe Becomes a Brave
Babe Ruth switched teams and leagues, signing a three-year with the Boston Braves. Ruth had hoped to manage the Yankees, but he turned down an offer from them to become a minor-league manager and was released. He had one more moment of glory, hitting three home runs for the Braves on May 25, but he retired shortly afterward.

1998 - Fedorov Gets Paid, and Pays Off
After holding out for virtually the entire season, Sergei Federov agreed to a contract with the Detroit Red Wings that would pay him $28 million if the team reached the Eastern Conference finals. They not only did that, they won their second straight Stanley Cup, led by Fedorov's 10 goals in 22 playoff games.
