1910 - 55 Miles Per Hour in a Plane! Wow!

Los Angeles hosted the first international air meet in the United States. Glenn Wright established a world speed record of 55 mph while carrying a passenger in his plane.

1947 - A Football Score from the NHL

The Montreal Canadiens and Toronto St. Patricks combined for an NHL record 21 goals at Montreal, with the Canadiens winning, 14-7. (The record was tied in 1985.)

1982 - Dwight Clark Makes THE Catch

With less than two minutes to play in the NFC championship game, the San Francisco 49ers faced 3rd-and-goal at the Dallas Cowboys' 6-yard line. Joe Montana rolled to his right and threw what seemed an uncatchable pass to the back of the end zone, but Dwight Clark came from nowhere and leaped to pluck it out of the air. The 49ers won, 28-27, and went on to their first Super Bowl victory.
