1905 - Stanley Cup Football Score
Frank McGee scored 14 goals to lead the Ottawa Silver Seven to the most lopsided victory in Stanley Cup history, a 23-2 win over Dawson City.

1970 - Basketball's Longest (Illegal) Shot
Attempting to make a court-length from out of bounds under his own basket, Steve Myers of Pacific Lutheran University hit a field goal of 92 feet, 3 1/2 inches. Officials correctly ruled the shot illegal but, when fans booed, they reversed their decision and let it stand.

1970 - Flood Files Anti-Trust Suit
Curt Flood filed his civil lawsuit challenging baseball's reserve clause as a violation of anti-trust laws. He lost the case, but it eventually resulted in free agency for major league players.

1972 - Cowboys Hold Dolphins Touchdown-less
The Dallas Cowboys got their first Super Bowl victory, 24-3, over the Miami Dolphins, who became the first Super Bowl team not to score a touchdown in the game. Dallas quarterback Roger Staubach was named MVP.
